Conor Burch August 3, 2000 - April 12, 2012

Tragedy has struck the USSSA Baseball family with the passing of 11 year old Locust Grove Indian Conor Burch. Conor was struck by a passing automobile Thursday morning as he attempted to board the school bus. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, classmates and teammates as he journeys to his higher calling with our Lord.

 

God Bless the entire Burch family and the Locust Grove Baseball Association.

Atlanta Super NIT - The Largest Single Weekend Amateur Baseball Tournament In The World!!!
March 19, 2012 - It's official...the 2012 Atlanta Super NIT can claim itself to be the "LARGEST SINGLE WEEKEND AMATEUR BASEBALL TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD!!!" This past weekend's annual installment of this historic event was played under sunny skies by an unfathomable team count of 510, surpassing last year's record setting event by 55 teams. This year teams from 13 different states participated and not just in the Major classes but in AAA, AA & A also. Clubs from Alabama (12), Arkansas (1), Florida (13), Illinois (2), Michigan (7), Missouri (1), Mississippi (6), North Carolina (10), Ohio (1), South Carolina (5), Tennessee (12) and Virginia (1) are onboard along with a plethora of Georgia teams. If your team didn't play you may need to ask yourself...what do 510 teams know that I don't?

2012 USSSA Baseball Bat Rules Simplified...
January 1, 2012 - The below rules pertaining to bats shall be enforced in age divisions 14U and younger without exception affective 1/1/2012.

Small Barrel Bats - (2-1/4 inches in diameter) - Only those small barrel bats made by Approved USSSA Licensed Manufacturers that are either...
(1) Made with the OLD USSSA Mark ("USSSA BPF 1.15"); or
(2) Made with the NEW USSSA Mark (see image at right); or
(3) Wood, shall be allowed in USSSA play.
Small Barrel Bat Comment: The above includes Tee Ball bats that are longer than 23 inches in length. Small Barrel Tee Ball bats 23 inches and shorter in length from Approved USSSA Licensed Manufacturers will continue to be allowed without the NEW or OLD USSSA marks.
Big Barrel Bats (larger than 2-1/4 inches in diameter) - Only those big barrel bats made by Approved USSSA Licensed Manufacturers that are either...
(1) Made with the NEW USSSA Mark (see image at right); or
(2) Is a qualified BBCOR bat (pursuant to the rules of the NFHS); or
(3) Wood, shall be allowed in USSSA play.

Darin McGahey October 30, 1967 - July 7, 2010

Georgia USSSA Baseball is saddened to report the passing of an exceptional human being tragically taken from the baseball world for a higher purpose. Darin McGahey passed on July 7, 2010 in Pensacola, Florida in a tragic swimming accident. Darin is survived by his wife Ann and three wonderful sons. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Friend and Coach. He will be missed very much by his family, friends and the baseball community. Our prayers go to the McGahey family…God Bless.
